Julius Berger Appoints Muiz Banire and Chinazo Okoye to Board

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Dr. Muiz Adeyemi Banire, Ph.D., SAN, OON, as a Non-Executive Director of the Company, alongside the appointment of Mrs. Chinazo Okoye as an Alternate Director.


The appointments were approved at a meeting of the Company’s Board of Directors held on June 17, 2026, and formally disclosed to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public in a statement signed by the Company Secretary, Mrs. Cecilia Ekanem Madueke.


Dr. Banire’s appointment takes effect from July 1, 2026. Dr. Muiz Banire is a distinguished legal practitioner, academic, and public servant with decades of experience across multiple sectors. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he is the Founder and Principal Partner of M. A. Banire & Associates.


He currently serves as Pro- Chancellor of the University of Uyo and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Fountain University, Osogbo. Dr. Banire obtained his Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989.


He also holds a Master Certificate in Arbitration from the Lagos Court of Arbitration Training Institute. He is affiliated with several professional bodies, including the International Bar Association, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.


He is also a fellow of the Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria and the Nigerian Institute of Management. Mrs. Chinazo Okoye, appointed as Alternate Director to Dr. Ernest N. Azudialu-Obiejesi, is a seasoned business professional with a strong background in engineering and finance.


She is currently the Managing Director of Amaranta Trading Limited and a Chartered Certified Accountant of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).


Mrs. Okoye holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, and a Master of Science degree in Professional Accountancy from the University of London.


She brings extensive experience across corporate and financial roles to her new position. Commenting on the appointments, the Company stated that both individuals bring a wealth of expertise and experience that will enhance the Board’s capacity and contribute to the strategic direction and governance of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.


These appointments underscore the Company’s commitment to strengthening its leadership structure and advancing its long-term growth objectives.
