The Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, has announced the commencement of a free 6 month Technical and Vocational training programme, aimed at promoting skills acquisition and reducing unemployment across the State.
Acting Executive Secretary of OGSTVEB, Mojisola Adenowo, said the initiative was designed to equip youths and other interested individuals with practical, industry-relevant skills across various technical fields, thereby enhancing their employability and capacity for self-reliance.
According to her, the training which would run for 6 months, would cover a wide range of vocational areas, including; construction-related trades, mechanical works and other hands-on skills, critical to national development, adding that participants would benefit from expert instruction, modern training techniques and be exposed to real-world applications, while reflecting the commitment of the Ogun State Government to reposition technical and vocational education as a key driver of economic growth and youth empowerment.
‘’The programme will run for a period of six months, with participants receiving intensive hands-on training across various vocational fields. All trades and skills available within the State’s technical education system will be offered at no cost," she said.
She further explained that registration had been ongoing and would be conducted online, adding that prospective applicants were not required to submit any documents, making the process accessible to all.
Mrs. Adenowo added that participants would undergo proper assessment at the end of the training, stressing that attendance was mandatory as only participants with full attendance would be eligible for assessment and certification, adding that successful participants would be awarded the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) Certificate under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), a nationally recognised certification that validates vocational competence and enhances employability.
She urged eligible residents across the State to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing that the initiative aligned with ongoing reforms, aimed at strengthening the technical education sector.
